The painter notes about his work:
«Telephone Unconscious» are living cells that develop through the automatic writing of symbolized associations. The only effort during their evolution is not to escape from this anarchic convention or better to limit their control and reconstruction, to interfere with minimal logic of the composition, dominating the instinctive aesthetics, seduced by the less spectating aspects of the mind. They are created in the midst of non-creative activities - such as phone calls - and in order to mature, neutral times are required. They are codes whose deciphering surprises even their creator, but they do not reveal a purely personal psychoanalysis of the visual object despite the repeated registered signals regarding it. They progressively acquire the character of mapping collective neuroses, with the contribution of the unconscious promiscuity of dreams, but at the same time with relentless materialism creating the contradiction of a surreal landscape with miraculous extensions woven with realistic materials of almost mathematical assembly.
Bio:
Orestis P. Kyrtsis is an artist, graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts with postgraduate studies in advertising. Professionally he deals with the applied fine arts and the internet. His visual creation is inspired mainly by industrial themes. His works adorn two KAFAO electrical boxes in the Municipality of Athens, while the most recent exhibition he participated in was the “ASFA Platforms Project”. He has occasionally taught art to children and youth. He is also engaged in poetry with periodical publications in print and electronic media as well as in literary publications.
