«Honour to Manos Eleftheriou»
I met Manos Eleftheriou many years ago. Of course, I have known him mainly as a lyricist and as a poet since 1970.
Being close to him I admired his poetry more. That's why, when I started working on my album "Verses on the Easel" in 2004, at the time of the Olympic Games in Athens, I included him along with other contemporary poets.
We talked a lot in our meetings about his creations and his poem's visualization and I learned which colors, which painters he liked, which older poets he had been influenced by and much more.
At the same time I was doing a lot of drawings in his space, where he wrote for many hours and of course read so many books.
I was taking pictures of him in many poses and then I worked on these portraits in my studio.
This is how his exhibition «Honour to Manos Eleftheriou» is created and is now presented in Syros, his beloved island, where he was born and raised.
